Kitchen plumber in Crete: taps, sinks, dishwashers and washing machines connected leak-free

The kitchen is where water, drains, electricity and daily use all come together. A small drip under the sink can rot a cabinet base unnoticed for months, a waste pipe with the wrong slope keeps blocking, and a badly connected dishwasher or washing machine can flood the floor while you are on the beach. In Crete, hard water adds its own problems: limescale in aerators and flexible hoses, taps that start to drip and appliances that wear out early.

I install and repair everything in the kitchen that has to do with water: taps and sinks, waste pipes and traps, shut-off valves, dishwasher and washing machine connections, fridge water lines and drinking water filters. When a kitchen is renovated, I move the water and drain points to where the new layout needs them, before the fitter places the units. And because I am also an electrician, the sockets and circuits for the oven, hob, dishwasher and washing machine are taken care of in the same visit, without waiting for another tradesman.

A leaking pipe under the sink that you cannot stop is an emergency, and I come out for that day and night. For everything else we plan a visit at a time that suits you. You know the fixed price before I start.

Common kitchen plumbing problems and their usual causes

These are the kitchen problems I see most often in Cretan homes, and what you can do before I arrive.

Connecting a new kitchen

A new kitchen is usually placed by a kitchen fitter, but the water, drains and electrics have to be right first. When I work on a new or renovated kitchen, I take care of:

Moving water and drain points to match the new layout, with enough slope on the waste pipe
A shut-off valve for every tap and appliance, so each one can be isolated
Dishwasher and washing machine supply and drain connections
Sockets and dedicated circuits for the oven, hob, dishwasher and washing machine
Fitting the sink, tap and waste after the worktop is in place
Testing everything for leaks before the cabinets are closed

Repair or replace your kitchen tap?

A dripping tap is not always a reason to buy a new one, but in Crete limescale often makes the decision for you.

Repair makes sense

The tap is of good quality and not very old
Only the cartridge or a seal is worn
Replacement parts are available
The body and finish are still in good condition

Replacing is better

Heavy limescale inside the tap
Leaking from the base or the body
No parts available for the model
You want a pull-out or filter tap anyway

When I replace a tap, I also replace the flexible hoses and check the valves under the sink, because old hoses are one of the most common causes of kitchen leaks.

Kitchens in holiday rentals and empty homes

In holiday rentals the kitchen is used intensively by guests who do not know the house. A loose dishwasher hose or a leaking tap connection can go unnoticed until water appears in the apartment below. I check kitchen connections before the season, replace old hoses, add shut-off valves and advise owners to close them, or the main valve, when the house is empty. For apartments and villas around Hersonissos and Malia I can combine this with a check of the water heater and the other bathrooms, and send you a short report with photos.

Frequently Asked Questions

My new tap has low pressure. Why?

Limescale or debris in the aerator or the flexible hoses is the most common cause in Crete, especially after work on the water supply. Cleaning or replacing them usually solves it. If the pressure is low everywhere, the cause can be the pump or the main supply.

Can you connect my new kitchen after a kitchen fitter places it?

Yes, I regularly do the water, drain and electrical connections for newly fitted kitchens. Ideally I come before the units go in to move the points, and again afterwards to connect the sink, tap and appliances.

There is water under my kitchen sink. What should I do?

Close the small valves under the sink, dry the area and check if it comes from the tap hoses, the waste pipe or the dishwasher. If you cannot stop it, close the main valve. Then call me.

Can you move my sink to another place?

Usually yes. Water and drain lines can be moved, as long as the drain has enough slope to the main waste pipe. I check this on site and tell you what is possible.

Do you install pull-out and filter taps?

Yes, including taps with a separate filtered drinking water outlet and under-sink filter systems.

How much does it cost to replace a kitchen tap?

It depends on the tap and on the condition of the valves and hoses under the sink. I give you a fixed price before I start, and you can supply your own tap or I can bring a suitable one.

Do you connect washing machines and dishwashers?

Yes, with a proper supply valve, a drain connection that does not let water flow back, and a safe socket. I also move connections when the appliance needs to stand somewhere else.

Do you come out quickly for a kitchen leak in Hersonissos or Heraklion?

For a leak you cannot stop, yes, I come out as an emergency in Hersonissos, Malia, Heraklion, Agios Nikolaos and the surrounding villages. For smaller repairs we plan a visit, usually within a few days.
