Handyman Services in Crete

Painting, tiling, carpentry, roofs and small repairs: all those jobs in and around the house, done properly by one person you can trust.

Handyman in Crete: home repairs, painting, tiling and property maintenance in Hersonissos, Heraklion, Malia and Agios Nikolaos

Every house in Crete has a list of jobs that keeps getting longer. A door that sticks after the winter rain, paint that peels in the sun, a cracked tile on the terrace, a flat roof that starts to leak, shutters that no longer close, furniture still in boxes in a new rental. Finding a reliable handyman for those jobs is not always easy, and many owners end up with several people who each do one part, at different times.

I am Gino, a Belgian-certified plumber, electrician and HVAC technician with more than 20 years of experience, and I live in Hersonissos. Next to those trades I do the general handyman work that keeps a property in good shape: painting, tiling, carpentry, doors and windows, roof waterproofing, plastering, pressure cleaning and complete renovations. The big advantage: when a job involves a pipe, a cable or an air conditioner, I can do that part too, safely and to standard, without waiting for another tradesman.

I work as a handyman in Hersonissos, Malia, Stalis, Analipsi, Gouves, Heraklion, Agios Nikolaos, Elounda and the villages around them. Most handyman jobs are planned by appointment, usually within days. Many of my clients are owners abroad and holiday rental managers, so I work with keys, send photos before and after on WhatsApp and keep a list of what still needs doing. You always get a fixed price before I start.

Why one handyman for all those jobs makes sense

One list, one visit

Send me your list of small jobs and I plan them together. That saves you time, travel and the hassle of arranging several people.

Certified for the technical parts

A new light, a moved socket, a dripping tap: I do the electrical and plumbing parts myself, safely and to standard.

Finishing that lasts

Paint, sealant and materials chosen for strong sun, salt air and winter rain, so the work still looks good next year.

Ideal for owners abroad

I work with your keys, send photos before and after and tell you honestly what else I noticed in the house.

Rental turnovers

Repairs between guests, before the season or after the last booking, planned around your rental calendar.

Tidy work

I protect floors and furniture, clean up after myself and take away the waste, so the house is ready to use.

Typical handyman jobs I do in Cretan homes

Sun, salt, wind and winter rain take their toll on every property. These are jobs I do almost every week:

  • Painting walls, ceilings, shutters and outdoor railings
  • Repairing and replacing floor and wall tiles, also on terraces
  • Fixing doors, windows, shutters, locks and fly screens
  • Waterproofing flat roofs and terraces before the winter
  • Plastering cracks and repairing walls after a leak or new cables
  • Assembling and hanging furniture, shelves, mirrors and curtain rails

Small jobs or a full renovation

Small repairs

  • One door, a few tiles, a room to paint
  • Combined in one visit with other jobs
  • Planned within days

Larger projects

  • A new bathroom or kitchen
  • Renovating an older house for rental
  • Plumbing, electrics and finishing from one person

For a larger project I come to look, discuss what you want and give you a clear plan with a fixed price. During the work you get regular photos, so you can follow it from abroad. Because I do the plumbing, electrics and finishing myself, there are no gaps between trades and no days lost waiting for someone else.

Property maintenance for holiday homes and rentals

A house that stands empty for months needs attention. Shutters seize, damp creeps into walls, the pool area gets dirty and small problems become big ones. With my property maintenance I check your house at agreed moments, open and air it, test water, electrics and A/C, and do the small repairs straight away.

For rental owners and managers I fit repairs around the booking calendar and can be called when guests report a problem. You get a short report with photos after each visit, so you always know the state of your property, wherever you are.

Before the season I can also take care of the bigger preparations in one go: pressure cleaning the terraces and pool surround, touching up outdoor paint, oiling hinges and shutters, checking the roof and gutters after the winter, and replacing worn seals and fly screens. Combined with a cleaning of the A/C units and a quick test of the water heater, the house is ready for the first guests without last-minute surprises.

Often combined with handyman work

Electrical repairs

Moving a socket before painting or replacing an outdoor light is easy when your handyman is also a certified electrician. I do it in the same visit.

  • Sockets and switches moved or added
  • Indoor and outdoor lights
  • Safe, tested connections
  • No waiting for another tradesman

Leak detection

A damp wall or hollow tiles often hide a leaking pipe. I find and repair the leak first, so the new paint or tiles stay dry.

  • Cause found before refinishing
  • Small opening only where needed
  • Pipe repaired and tested
  • Wall or floor closed neatly

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you work as a handyman in Hersonissos and Heraklion?

Yes. I live in Hersonissos, so Hersonissos, Malia, Stalis and Analipsi are very close. Heraklion is about 30 minutes away, Agios Nikolaos about 40 and Elounda about 50. Handyman jobs are usually planned within days.

Can I give you a list of small jobs?

Yes, that is the best way. Send me your list with a few photos and I plan everything in one or more visits. Combining jobs saves you time and travel costs. Further away, in Agios Nikolaos or Elounda, a combined list makes even more sense, because the travel then hardly matters per job.

How much does a handyman cost in Crete?

It depends on the jobs and materials. I look at the work, or at clear photos, and give you a fixed price before I start, so there are no surprises afterwards. If I find something unexpected during the work, like a leak behind a tile, I tell you first and we agree before I do more.

Do you supply the materials?

Yes, if you want. I buy paint, tiles, sealants and fittings that suit the Cretan climate, or I work with materials you have chosen yourself.

Can you look after my house while I live abroad?

Yes. I check the house at agreed times, do small repairs right away and send you photos and a short report. Many owners combine this with seasonal A/C and plumbing checks.

Do you also do larger renovations?

Yes. From a bathroom or kitchen to renovating a whole house, including plumbing, electrics, plastering, tiling and painting, coordinated by one person.

When is the best time to waterproof a flat roof?

In dry weather, ideally late summer or early autumn, before the winter rains. The surface must be clean and dry for the waterproofing to bond well.

Can you work in a holiday rental between guests?

Yes. I plan repairs around your booking calendar and make sure the house is clean and ready for the next guests when I leave.
