Certified Plumber in Crete

Leaks, blocked drains, cold showers or a brand-new bathroom: fast, tidy plumbing work from Hersonissos to Heraklion, Malia and Agios Nikolaos.

Plumber in Crete: Hersonissos, Heraklion, Malia and Agios Nikolaos, for homes, villas and holiday rentals

Plumbing in Crete has its own character. The water is hard and full of limescale, most roofs carry a solar water heater, houses outside the village network depend on pressure pumps and storage tanks, and pipes are usually cast into concrete floors and walls. Add holiday homes that stand empty for months and long, hot summers, and you get the problems I solve every week: hidden leaks, seized valves, blocked drains, weak pressure and showers that turn cold halfway through.

I am Gino, a Belgian-certified plumber with more than 20 years of experience, and I live in Hersonissos. Because I am also a certified electrician and HVAC technician, I can handle the whole job myself: the plumbing of a new water heater and its electrical connection, the pump and its control, a bathroom from the pipes behind the wall to the lighting above the mirror. You deal with one person, one appointment and one clear price agreed before I start.

I work as a plumber in Hersonissos, Malia, Stalis, Analipsi, Gouves, Heraklion, Agios Nikolaos, Elounda and the villages in between. For a burst pipe or water coming through a ceiling I come out day and night. Planned work, like a new boiler, a kitchen connection or a full bathroom, we schedule at a time that suits you. Many of my clients live abroad, so I am used to working with keys, WhatsApp photos and short reports, and you always know what I found and what I did.

Plumbing problems I solve most often in Crete

Hidden leaks

A damp wall, a pump that keeps starting or a high DEYA bill usually means a leak in a pipe cast into concrete. I find it with leak detection before opening anything.

Blocked drains and toilets

Grease, wipes, limescale and roots block kitchen sinks, showers and outdoor drain lines. I clear them and look for the cause so it does not come back.

No hot water

A burnt element, a dead thermostat or a tank full of limescale. I repair or replace electric and solar water heaters, including the electrical side.

Low water pressure

Limescale in aerators, a tired pressure pump, a failing pressure vessel or a nearly empty tank. I check the whole chain from the street to the shower head.

Worn bathrooms and kitchens

Old taps, leaking shower trays and cracked seals. I install new taps, toilets, walk-in showers and kitchen connections that stay dry.

Holiday homes standing empty

Seized valves, dry seals and leaks nobody notices for weeks. I check the system before the season and between bookings.

Why plumbing in Crete needs a local approach

Many plumbing problems here have the same few root causes. Knowing them means I fix the source, not just the symptom:

  • Hard water that fills heaters, taps and valves with limescale, which a softener or filter can slow down
  • Pipes cast into concrete, so leaks stay invisible until the damage shows
  • Pressure pumps and roof tanks that add stress to old fittings
  • Strong sun that makes outdoor pipes and garden lines brittle
  • Septic tanks and long drain runs in houses outside the village network
  • Homes that stand empty, where seals dry out and valves seize

Emergency plumbing or planned work

Emergency, 24/7

  • Burst pipe or water through a ceiling
  • A leak you cannot stop with a valve
  • Blocked toilet with guests in the house
  • No water at all in a rental

Planned work

  • New electric or solar water heater
  • Bathroom or kitchen installation
  • Pump, tank or filter upgrade
  • Pre-season check of a holiday home

In an emergency, close the main valve, switch off the water heater and call or WhatsApp me. For planned work I come to look, give you a fixed price and agree a date. More tips are on my emergency page.

One certified tradesman for the whole job

Most plumbing jobs in a Cretan house touch electricity too. A water heater needs a safe circuit, a pump needs a pressure switch and protection, a bathroom needs sockets and lighting in the right place. Usually that means a plumber and an electrician who arrive on different days and blame each other when something does not work.

With me that is one visit. I connect the plumbing, the electrics and, where it matters, the heating side, and I test everything together before I leave. That is faster for you, cheaper on travel and, above all, safer. For bigger projects like a new bathroom I also do the tiling and finishing, so you have one point of contact from start to end.

Often combined with plumbing work

Electrical repairs

A water heater that trips the power or a pump that will not start is often an electrical fault. As a certified electrician I check the circuit in the same visit.

  • Safe circuits for heaters and pumps
  • Tripping breakers traced and fixed
  • Sockets and lighting in wet rooms
  • No second tradesman needed

Tiling and finishing

After a leak repair or a new shower, the wall or floor needs to be closed neatly. I do the tiling myself, so the job is really finished.

  • Walls and floors closed after repairs
  • Shower areas waterproofed first
  • Matching tiles where possible
  • One schedule from pipe to tile

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can a plumber come out in Hersonissos or Heraklion?

I live in Hersonissos, so Hersonissos, Malia, Stalis and Analipsi are the quickest to reach. Heraklion is about 30 minutes away and Agios Nikolaos about 40. For emergencies I come out 24/7; planned work is usually possible within a few days.

How much does a plumber cost in Crete?

It depends on the job, so I do not work with vague hourly estimates. I look at the problem, or at clear photos, and give you a fixed price before I start. Some services, like water heaters, have fixed packages shown on their own page.

Why is my water pressure so low?

In Crete the usual causes are limescale in aerators and pipes, a failing pressure pump or pressure vessel, a nearly empty tank or a hidden leak. I check the whole system and explain what is wrong before I fix anything.

My hot water runs out quickly. What can I do?

Often the heating element or thermostat is covered in limescale, or a solar heater needs descaling or a new back-up element. I can test and service it, or advise on a better-sized system if your household has grown.

What should I do with a burst pipe until you arrive?

Close the main water valve, usually near the meter at the street or next to the pump. Switch off the electric water heater and the electricity in any room where water reaches sockets or lights. Then call or WhatsApp me.

Do you also install complete bathrooms?

Yes. From a single toilet or vanity to a full bathroom with walk-in shower, waterproofing and tiling, including the electrical work, coordinated by one person.

Can you look after the plumbing of my holiday home while I am abroad?

Yes. I check for leaks, test the pump and water heater, open and close valves and send you photos and a short report. Many owners ask me to do this before the season and after the last guests.

Do you work as a plumber in Agios Nikolaos and Elounda too?

Yes. Agios Nikolaos is about 40 minutes and Elounda about 50 minutes from Hersonissos. For small jobs there it helps to combine them, or to let me plan them on a day I already work in the area.
