Plumber for Family Homes, Apartment Buildings and Beach Rentals in Gazi, Ammoudara and Tylisos
Gazi is not a resort that empties in October. Many families live here all year round, in family houses and in the newer apartment buildings on the west side of Heraklion, so the plumbing is used every single day: busy mornings with everyone in the shower, a washing machine that is always running and a kitchen that never really closes. In the apartment buildings the water usually arrives through a shared pump, and the hot water comes from a solar heater on the flat roof. When that pump or heater struggles, several households notice it at the same moment.
Down at Ammoudara, along the long sandy beach, the picture changes to hotels and holiday apartments, where drains and water heaters work hard from spring to autumn. Inland, Tylisos has older houses, many of them with their own pump and tank. What ties the three places together is hard water: limescale builds up in heaters, taps and shower heads wherever you live, and it is behind a good share of the calls I get from this side of the city.
I am a Belgian-certified plumber with more than 20 years of experience, and I am also an electrician, which helps with pumps and water heaters that are half water and half wiring. The drive from my base in Hersonissos to Gazi takes about 40 minutes, crossing Heraklion on the national road. That is further than a plumber around the corner, so I am open about it: for emergencies I come out, and planned jobs I group on days I already work in the area.
